Teen Program at the Activity Center     Grades 6-10

The Teen Center located in the Activity Center at 11695 Donner Pass Road is open Monday through Friday  from 2:30-6:00 pm. 

FEES:  $3 per day Drop In, or $30 per Month, paid in advance

 

 Here are a typical day’s activities:  A healthy snack and/or beverage will be provided daily as students arrive off the bus and sign in for the day.  Other healthy treats will be available for purchase for those super hungry types.  The library area is designated for homework and study time till 3:30 pm daily.  A separate computer area gives access to computers and printers.  Afterwards it will be available for meetings (call 582-7766 to arrange meeting space for your teen group or club!) or reading, board games, projects or chilling and talking with friends.  After 3:30, indoor  and/or outdoor activities are planned daily.

Clubs:  We want you-to have your meetings here!  New kids clubs or existing groups may set up meetings on a space available basis ( group rates available).  Call 582-7766 for more info.  Any group with an idea or goal is welcome!

 Mentors:  If you like interacting with young teens, come volunteer to lead activities, tutor, play games.  (interview required)

Teen  Ambassadors:  Do you like helping others?  Welcome new kids to the Teen Center, help plan activities and more!

Homework Club

Homework Club at ACMS:  Do your homework at school under teacher supervision and ride the late bus to the Teen Center!  (Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays only)  You’ll arrive just in time for daily activities.  Mon-Thurs, 2:30-4:00 pm

 

 

Club Rad-Afterschool Enrichment Classes

Open to Teen Center Monthly Members (discounts available for most classes if your child attends the Teen Center on a monthly basis), drop-ins or anyone who wants to join us for class activities.

 

May/June Everyday: Take the fitness challenge! Log walking/running mileage, crunches, pushups or other fitness basics and earn prizes!

 

Teens Cook: Harry Potter Recipes May 12-June 9, 3:45-5:15. We admit up front this is not a health food class. Learn to make Butter Beer, Chocolate Frogs, Treacle Tart, enjoy blind tastings of Bertie Bott’s Beans and more. We will make some favorite main courses as well-so read up on your Harry Potter and get ready to cook and eat!

 $40 ($32 for monthly teen members)

 

Climbing and Bouldering: May 20-June 10, 2:45-4:30 pm. Join our resident climber Renee for two days at the Rock Gym and two days bouldering at Donner Summit. Shoes, harness & gear provided at gym, bring your own for bouldering. $40 ($32 for monthly members)

 

Babysitting Certification for Guys & Girls by Tahoe Forest Hospital: May 6-20,  3:45-5:45 Last class of the spring: Get certified and make some money this summer. First Aid, CPR and babysitting basics are taught. , $45 plus $10 materials9includes Teen program drop-ins on those days).

 

Wednesdays Out: On non-minimum days, we hit the great outdoors-local parks, Donner Lake and other nearby spots just to get outside and burn off some steam. We return to the Activity Center by 4 pm for homework or pickup. Free with Teen center fees.

 

Whatever Wednesdays: April 23rd Movie Day; May 7 Adopt-a-Stream activities or playing Board Games & cards at the Senior Apartments with the residents; May 21 Teen center Game & Tournament Day.

All activities $5 in advance, $7 day of the event.

 

Beginning Drawing with Soren Wolff: May 15-June 5, 3:45-5:15 pm. Expand your skills-all levels from doodlers to accomplished drawers. Soren specializes in landscape, detailed or stylized architectural & fantasy-scapes. You name it, he’ll help you draw it. Bring drawing paper and pencil. $44 includes Teen Center Drop-in that day. ($36 for monthly members)

Snack Out: We leave as a group for snack away from the Activity center. We buy selected items on the first Friday of each month. Other Fridays, you buy. Return by 3:45 pm for games, movies & the usual activities!
