Kid’s Korner at the Truckee Community Center and Glenshire Elementary K - 5th grade Designed for elementary children, these before and after school programs are a great way to spend the off school hours. Open at both the Community Center and Glenshire Elementary, these programs provide a safe, fun environment where children may socialize. Daily activities include games, crafts, and homework time. A light snack is provided daily. Program hours vary, depending on the site.

BALLET I & III AGES 4-11
Beginning dancers learn basic ballet positions for arms and feet, plus basic technique in classical ballet with simple combinations, center floor and across the floor. Proper stretching techniques teach body awareness. Dancers aged 7-11 will continue with a review of the basics, adding more intricate choreography with added awareness of counting and dancing to the music and dance terminology. Ongoing monthly classes finish in June with a recital and resume in September. See page 8 for summer dance camps!

DRILL TEAM FOR GIRLS AGES 6-14
This is a fun, cheer team that will perform in the 4th of July Parade. The girls will learn basic arm movements, how to march in file and an original dance routine. This class is for Spanish speaking and English speaking girls. Cost is $5 for the classes with a $30 materials fee per girl. Partial and full scholarships are available. Don’t be let the cost keep you from joining!

Small classes feature close supervision to help guide and instruct your child in developing artistic abilities. Children delight themselves as they create that special gift for their family or friends. Students learn to take pre-cast greenware from cleaning to the final stages with glaze or stain. SHITO-RYU MARTIAL ARTS AGES 5 & UP
This Karate school has classes for all ages and experience levels. New class for Ages 4 & 5! Beginner will focus on the basics of Karate and kata. Most sparring will be with the instructor, Tony Altieri. Intermediate classes are offered for older youth and adults. Advanced classes focus on conditioning and cardio, kumite, kata and weapons. Saturday classes are included in monthly fees. Younger students attend the early class, and adults attend the later class. Monthly fees include TKO, AAU fees and insurance.

Yoga helps children develop focus & concentration; increases strength, flexibility, balance & co-ordination; and is a perfect activity for children to cultivate respect for themselves and those around them.
