SAILING                 CAMPS             AGES 8-17

 

Join our award winning sailing program & learn how to sail, from beginning to end, in our 12’ Escape sailboats!

 

Novice: This class is for students who have never taken sailing before & want to learn to sail. Kids will learn water safety, rigging, knots, sailing upwind & downwind, tacking & jibbing.

Intermediate: This class is for students who have taken the novice sailing class. Students review basic skills & continue to learn water safety, rigging, knots, sailing upwind & downwind, tacking, jibbing, beaching, steering & sail trim.

Advanced: This class is for students who are very comfortable in boats. Brief review of basic sailing, continue to learn steering, sail trim, racing techniques & right-of-way.

JUI-JITSU CAMP            AGES 7-14

 

Come join Mark & Kelly for a fun and

useful camp! You will learn basic self defense skills while gaining self confidence and having fun. Class will be held at their studio on Deerfield Drive. Wear comfortable clothes come ready to learn!

JR. LIFEGUARD CAMPS          AGES 10-14                                 

 

The Jr Lifeguard program continues to be an exciting, active camp for all. Sign your adventurous child up for a fun filled week of sun, exercise & new knowledge. The Jr Lifeguard program is for kids 10-14 who are excited about swimming and feel comfortable in the water. Each child will be exposed to the exciting world of emergency response and life guarding during this fun & action-packed week.  Your child will come away with basic knowledge of American Red Cross Guard Start, CPR, basic First Aid, and outdoor safety.   They will practice their new skills at West End Beach and in the pool.  We will take trips to other Emergency Medical Service operations like Sand Harbor, the Coast Guard on Lake Tahoe, local fire stations, and one of Reno’s best aquatic facilities-Wild Island.  Instruction of this course is provided by paramedics, EMT’s, and professional lifeguard instructors.  Sign up quick—enrollment is limited to 20 enrollees per session.

SCIENCE ADVENTURES                                      GRADES 1*-5

 

REGISTRATION FOR THIS CAMP STARTS 8:00 AM , MONDAY MAY 5th

 

Teacher Michael Franey is back with his popular summer science camps for students!  This camp meets outdoors at the Lower River Barbeque in Regional Park.  Wear play clothes and bring a lunch, sunscreen, water and snack daily.  This camp has always filled early so don’t wait! Science is fun!

The instructor pre-orders his materials so this camp is non-refundable unless we can replace you, at least one week in advance!

*Child must have completed kindergarten to sign-up.

 

 

PIRATES ARE BACK!!

 

Science with pirates? Yes, pirates are back in Truckee to teach about and explore islands, compasses, treasure, volcanoes, rocks, ships, oceans, bats, owls, squid and, of course-how to survive

a week  as a pirate!

Learn pitching, putting, hitting out of the sand, use of irons and woods. Groups will be formed based on ability/experience.

SOCCER CAMP            AGES 5-16         

 

Join us for a week of soccer and fun. Head clinician Dennis Belisle has taught soccer at the club, college , and professional level, and is currently the Director of Player and Coach Development at Summit 7000 Soccer Academy. Dennis’ unique ability to reach every athlete makes this a popular course for local players. Training will focus on technical development and tactical training in small-sided games featuring the latest in European and South American methodology.

The following half-day camps feature in-depth coaching in specific sports. These camps are great for the athlete just starting out or for one ready to take their game to the next level.  Registration opens May 1st. ART CAMP-MOMMY & ME

AGES 3-5

Anke will offer a special art camp geared for you and your child.  This is an excellent opportunity for you to learn how to direct your young child’s natural way of visual thinking toward the world of fine arts.

ART CAMP-Fine Art Exploration

AGES 5-10

 

It’s time for summer art!  Join the fun and immerse your child in artistic possibilities.  We work hands on with acrylics, charcoals, watercolors, markers, pencils, and pastels on paper and canvas.  Some clay work is also included. Anke is confident she will inspire your children to draw & paint with much enthusiasm through intense practice & simple exposure to the artistic process

This older group will have lots of fun while exploring fine arts in a variety of media, and will also be challenged by a look into art, art history, and culture.  Bring a friend and your current ideas!

Ages 5-12

 

Have fun learning cheer motions, stunts and cheer dance on the shore of beautiful Donner Lake. You will also learn the coolest Hip Hop moves and basic tumbling skills. Please wear comfortable clothes, and bring lunch, bathing suit, sun block and lots of water. We will have free beach time each day.

DANCE CAMPS

All camps will consist of three hours of dance instruction in the dance room at the Truckee Community Center followed by beach time at West End Beach at Donner Lake, where parents will pick them up at 5 (except Thursday). All camps include Jazz Technique & Classical Ballet. Each Thursday there will be a performance at the CC in the afternoon. Please wear dance attire and bring lunch, water, bathing suit, etc. each day.

PRESCHOOL CAMP REGISTRATION

 

Register for both programs at the Truckee Community Center.  General Registration opens May 19th , for full sessions only.  

Payment is due in full for the first session at the time of registration.  Registration priority is given to participants currently enrolled in Butterfly and Grasshopper preschool during the week of May 12th -16th.  Drop in registration will be taken on a space available basis only with teacher approval. Licensing paperwork is due the Wednesday before the first day of session child is enrolled in

This summer camp program is designed as an introduction to the preschool experience for children.  Children are exposed to basic social skills, age-appropriate art and craft activities, stories, songs, discovery play, and outdoor experiences. Both potty trained children and those in diapers are welcome.  Parents provide diapers, sunscreen, and extra clothes daily. This program does not accept drop-ins. Minimum enrollment for Tuesday/Thursday class will be 10 children or class may be canceled.

Join the preschool teachers for a super fun in the sun time this summer. Camp curriculum is thematically based and includes both indoor and outdoor activities. Campers will be exposed to basic social skills, cooperative games, and basic art and craft activities. All campers must be potty trained. Please remember to pack a lunch, sunscreen and water daily.  Children should wear closed toed shoes and have a warm change of clothes every day.  Half Day registration is morning only.

CAMP RAD 2008: Wild ‘n Out Everyday               Entering GRADES 6-10

 

This is the real story of teens, picked to get out of the house, adventure together, create an amazing summer, and find out what happens, when people stop being bored, and get outside to have fun...  Daily travel to local adventures and beyond.  Specialty weeks feature more intensive activities around a theme, with an overnight experience.  From Caving to Zip lines, Kayaks to Water Parks, Paintball to White Water Rafting,  we have an adventure to make your summer memorable.  Certified staff combines years of experience in outdoor education, safety & fun! Weekly enrollment encouraged, overnights requires 3 day

Camp Rad Camperships-

Session 3:  Fast Water-We raft the lower stretch of the South Fork of the American River, Check out the falls and the pool at Markleeville,  the Carson Water Slides and more. 

Session 4:  On Target-paintball, mini golf, Indy cars, driving range, and cool it off with a swim.

Session 5:  Hot Spots:  Back by popular demand, the overnight  Sharks in the Dark at 6 Flags Marine World, a Sacramento

Monarchs game, did someone say Jelly Belly?

 

Session 6:  Wheels and Paddles-why walk when you can paddle or ride?  Ride bikes along the Truckee, paddle at West End Beach, paddle the whitewater of the upper stretch of the

American River, ride skateboards or scooters…

Session 7:  On the Water:  Kayak intensive!  Kayak West End, Kayak Lake Tahoe, Broomball (frozen water…), Kayak

overnight at the boat camp at Jackson Meadows Reservoir,  swimming, especially during kayak rescues.

Session 8:  Summer Chillin’  Time for Raging Waters at Cal Expo!, Paintball, Fishing, floating and swimming…

Session 9:  Backpack Palooza-You need your own equipment for this one-rental info available.  Hands on skills for the back country like orienteering, survival challenges, stargazing, what do I cook?, an overnight trip into the Crooked Lakes area of Sand Ridge trail, then an end of summer party at West End Beach to finish it all off.
